Description
The Breathing Monitor can be used for investigating tidal volumes, reserve volumes and vital capacity.

Constructed with a one piece stainless steel tank housed in a durable painted outer case. The float is constructed from lightweight plastic and calibrated 0 to 7 x 0.5 litres with a metal counterpoise. When the tank is filled with water the water the float chamber is contained.

In use the float will rise and fall, allowing readings to be taken directly off the float or it may be connected to a data logger with a motion sensor.

Supplied with a mouth piece that fits into the corrugated breathing hoses which snugly connects into Breathing Monitor.

Also included a nose clip and pen arm for fitting data logger sensors.

The Spirometer can be used for investigating tidal volumes, respiratory rate, pulmonary ventilation, reserve volumes and vital capacity. Oxygen consumption can also be measured which is useful in metabolic studies.

A simple lever control enables the subject to be connected either to atmosphere or to the float for recording. A container for soda-lime crystals is fitted which can be used to absorb carbon dioxide. The spirometer is designed to offer minimum resistance to air flow. This means greater comfort for the subject and more realistic results. The tank is one piece stainless steel pressing housed in a durable painted outer case. The float is constructed from lightweight plastic. The float is calibrated 0 to 7 x 0.5 litres and has a metal counterpoise. The pen arm corresponds to approximately 0.5 litres.

Supplied with a mouth piece that fits into the corrugated breathing hoses which snugly connects into Spirometer.

Also included a nose clip and pen arm for fitting data logger sensors.
Safety Features
INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVING PHYSICAL EXERCISE

In the investigation of the effects of exercise upon breathing rate, pulse rate, body temperature etc., pupils should not be allowed to take part if they are not permitted to undertake ordinary school P.E activities.

When using spirometers for gas analysis, be aware of the possible consequences of hyperventilation or of holding the breath. If the experiment requires a supply of oxygen it must be of medical quality.
